NBC Chicago – A nine-year-old boy was shot and killed Friday night on Chicago’s Near North Side, police said.
The boy was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital and initially said to be in good condition.
Police later said he sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the child wasn’t the intended target of the shooting, but it remained uncertain who the intended target was.

No one was in custody as of late Friday night.
