Florida Man Plucks Golf Ball Off Gator’s Tail

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WFLA)

A wild video out of Cape Coral, Florida shows a golfer grab his ball off the back of an alligator.

The video, originally posted to Facebook, shows an alligator sunbathing by a golf course pond with a golf ball laying on top of its tail.

The golfer decides to drop his ball on the grass rather than play from the unfortunate lie (understandably), but first, he has to retrieve the ball.

“He’s going to whip you with that tail, dude,” someone off-camera says, but the man manages to pluck the golf ball off the alligator’s tail and run for safety.

The video did not show how the ball wound up on the reptile’s tail and it’s unclear if the gator ever even knew it was there, but it definitely felt the ball move as it scurried into the water immediately after.

CNN – A Florida man chased an alligator under water and rescued his 3-month-old puppy from the jaws of death.

Richard Wilbanks, 74, of Estero pried the gator’s jaws open to free Gunner, his Cavalier King Charles spaniel.

“We were just out walking by the pond,” Wilbanks told CNN, “and it came out of the water like a missile. I never thought an alligator could be that fast.”

He said adrenaline or instinct kicked in, and “I just automatically jumped into the water.”

Holding the alligator wasn’t so tough, but prying open the jaws was “extremely hard,” he said.

Wilbanks said his hands were “chewed up,” and he went to a doctor for a tetanus shot.

Gunner had one puncture wound in his belly and did fine after a trip to the veterinarian’s office … Read more.
