(Headline USA) Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., encouraged Republicans to impeach President Joe Biden this week, claiming “sometimes you just gotta call their bulls***.”
“Go ahead, do it. I dare you,” Fetterman told reporters when asked about the GOP push for an impeachment inquiry into Biden over allegations of his family’s influence peddling.
“If you can find the votes, go ahead, because you’re going to lose. It’s a loser,” he added, according to the Huffington Post. “It would just be like a big circle jerk on the fringe right … If they’re going to threaten, then let’s see it.”
Fetterman, who was absent from the Senate for at least two months due to “clinical depression,” also took shots at former President Donald Trump, who is seeking the GOP nomination for the 2024 election.
“Your man has what, three or four indictments now? Trump has a mug shot, and he’s been impeached twice,” Fetterman continued. “I’m just tired of a couple of them over there, talking like they’re hard a**es.”
Fetterman, perhaps because of continued cognitive impairment, failed to mention that Trump’s mug shot raised a record of campaign cash and saw his popularity rise in polling.
The long-ailing senator, who actively hid his medical conditions from constituents during his midterm campaign, reportedly needed to use special “assistive technology to allow him to hear and respond to questions.”
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has floated an impeachment inquiry into Biden if the Biden administration does not cooperate with Republicans’ investigation into his family’s overseas business dealings.
However, some conservatives in the House have said they’re tired of waiting.
“We’ve got to seize the initiative. That means forcing votes on impeachment,” Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said this week. “And if stands Speaker McCarthy in our way, he may not have the job long. Let’s hope he works with us, not against us.”
Meanwhile, several Republicans in the Senate have expressed reluctance to pursue an impeachment case.
“I haven’t seen any evidence at this stage to suggest he’s met the constitutional test for impeachment,” Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said on Wednesday.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, agreed: “Don’t we have enough on our plate?,” she said.
