Is Carolina Country Music Festival next?

Myrtle Beach, SC (WBTW) – City Council will meet this week to talk about the challenges around having the Carolina Country Music Festival.

The festival was originally set for June 4th, but due to health concerns surrounding the coronavirus outbreak it was postponed to September 17th.

City council will not vote on whether to reschedule or cancel the festival altogether.

An announcement on their decision is expected to be made August 11.

The pandemic has put a dent in the city’s revenue. Mayor Brenda Bethune tells News13, CCMF brings the city about $20 million every year.

As restaurant and businesses try to stay afloat one nearby bar owner was looking forward to this year’s festival, but worries that it may be canceled.

2020 North Carolina State Fair canceled due to COVID-19

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – This year’s North Carolina State Fair has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, North Carolina Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler announced Wednesday morning.

The State Fair, which was scheduled to run from Oct. 15-25, is one of the most highly-anticipated events in the state every year – but COVID-19 ended up shutting it down.

North Carolina has seen more than 116,000 cases and over 1,800 people have died from the virus.

Around 1 million people regularly attend the State Fair.

The Mountain State Fair held just outside Asheville and the Carolina Classic Fair in Winston-Salem had already been canceled due to COVID-19.

The Mountain State Fair was scheduled for Sept. 11-20 and was canceled earlier this month. The Carolina Classic Fair was set to run from Oct. 2-11. It was canceled on Tuesday.
