Midland Reporter-Telegram – During a press conference to put a spotlight on getting more people vaccinated, Midland, Texas Mayor Patrick Payton said he is currently going through the vaccination process, having received the first of two shots.
“I have had a vaccine hesitancy myself, because I’ve been sick and tired of hearing data on one side and data on the other side,” Payton said Wednesday.
He called Midland Health officials the reasonable voice in the community on the vaccine issues and said he wanted to be part of the process of getting the message out that “as many people as possible” need to get vaccinated because they “believe it’s the right thing for you to do.”
“I am tired as well, comparing the unvaccinated and the vaccinated, even those words seem to be dangerous words and fighting words,” Payton said.
Payton reminded those on the conference call and others watching the press conference online that it was President Trump, who initiated Operation Warp Speed – the development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.

President Trump also has received the vaccine.
“It was the Trump administration that got this thing going,” Payton said. “And so, for a region that has supported President Trump more than probably any other region in the country, let’s go ahead and participate in this vaccination process that President Trump got started … ” READ MORE.
