UWK.COM, LIVINGSTON, LA — A high-ranking deputy in the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has been demoted and no longer over the Training Division following a UWK report last week.

Major Cedrick Paul Brignac was arrested for boating while intoxicated in March, an incident the agency never publicly disclosed.

Credible sources confirm to UWK that Brignac has been demoted from Major to Captain and is no longer over the Training Division. It’s unknown if the demotion included a change in pay.

UWK emailed LPSO requesting confirmation of the demotion, whether Brignac was still over the Training Division and if his pay changed. LPSO responded with, “Brignac, who is assigned LPSO’s training division, has been demoted from Major to Captain.”

The demotion comes after District Attorney Scott Perrilloux confirmed to UWK that Brignac’s case has been recommended for a Pre-trial Diversion Program, which is standard procedure for a first-offense DWI.
