THE MIRROR – Hugo Ferreira, from Welverdiend, South Africa, admitted to raping his 1-week-old daughter while they were home alone — and he said he knew she could die but didn’t care
The Pretoria High Court heard that the baby’s mother, Maureen Brand, briefly left the home to run errands when the crime took place.
She came back to discover her infant suffering from severe injuries on June 8, 2023.
Tragically, the baby girl succumbed to head injuries at the hospital after Ferreira forcefully “pushed her head against” a hard surface.
He excused his barbaric behavior by claiming he was “unhappy” being left to care for the child by Brand.

“The tiny victim’s body bore the unmistakable signs of sustained abuse. A needle puncture in her left groin suggested sadistic intent, while extensive bruising around her trachea, bleeding near the hyoid bone, and deep tissue injuries to her neck, face, and skull indicated repeated blunt-force trauma. The judge dismissed Ferreira’s claim that he merely pushed the baby’s head once, concluding instead that he had smashed it repeatedly against a hard surface.
