Police officer crawls across frozen lake to rescue two fishermen and a dog

By Talker News – A police officer crawled across a thinly frozen lake to rescue two fishermen and a dog who had fallen through.

Body-camera footage shows Deputy Chris Fjeld crawling across the ice to rescue the three.

The heroic deputy was able to rescue the two men and the dog using a rope, which was tied around his waist.

The men were fishing on a lake in Nowthen, Minn., on Dec. 5 when they fell through the ice.

Fjeld and Deputy Curt Grabmeie were first on the scene and decided they couldn’t wait for backup.

“By walking onto the ice when it is still too thin, you are putting yourself at significant risk of falling through and experiencing hypothermia or death. If you are planning on going onto the ice this winter, please visit the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource’s website for a guide on how thick the ice needs to be before walking or driving on it.” – Anoka County Sheriff’s Office’s
