WESH2 NEWS, ORLANDO – Lloyd Jarrell said he doesn’t remember chunks of his stay in the hospital but hopes people realize the virus is not a joke.
“I was one of the lucky ones,” Jarrell told WESH.
Jarrell feels fortunate despite spending half the year in the hospital and rehab after catching COVID-19 back in February:
“My lungs felt like they were on fire. I honestly wanted just to give up, because the pain was so bad. It felt like I was drowning.”
He doesn’t remember anything from then until April when he woke up in the hospital.
“I found out that my heart stopped for five minutes. They put me on ECMO, which keeps you alive for 69 days. I had a trach in for over 80 days … ” READ MORE.
Florida Board of Education votes to allow students to transfer schools over mask policy
Parents can transfer kids to other public schools or get taxpayer-funded seats in private schools through vouchers

First Coast News, JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Board of Education has approved a proposal by Gov. DeSantis that will allow parents of students who don’t agree with certain COVID-19 protocols at their assigned school to transfer.
Parents now have the option to transfer their children to another public school, or get taxpayer-funded seats in a private school where they wouldn’t have to wear face coverings though Hope Scholarship vouchers.
The Hope Scholarships are typically reserved for students who are victims of assault or bullying.
DeSantis says the move will give parents control over whether their kids wear masks, which is in line with last week’s executive order threatening to pull funding from schools that require them.
DeSantis also reiterated his opposition to school mask mandates during an event in Tampa Thursday. He explained:
“It’s parents’ choice in Florida, and government can’t override parents. We obviously have an executive order to that effect.
“And now, the board of education is gonna meet and they’ve got a couple proposed rules that’ll outline some of the things that’ll happen.” READ MORE.
