Country music stars who are battling serious health issues

Mark Chesnutt has had a rough couple of months ...

PENNLIVE – The country music world has been hit hard by tragedy this year with at least 20 performers and figures having died.

Several more stars have recently announced they are battling serious health issues, and a couple of those — Mark Chesnutt and Colt Ford — are lucky to be alive.

The following is a quick look at a quartet of country music stars who have recently made headlines because they are battling serious health issues.

MARK CHESNUTT

Mark Chesnutt has had a rough couple of months, and that is probably putting it lightly because the country music star very nearly lost his life in June.

The 60-year-old was rushed into emergency surgery where he underwent quadruple bypass surgery. It sounds serious because it is, and that is something that will obviously take time to come back from.

Chesnutt is apparently one, tough dude because he is already back on social media addressing fans.

“Well folks, doc says I got a new heart!” Chesnutt wrote on Instagram earlier this week. “I’m recovering comfortably at home with my family. Today we sat on the porch just soaking in the sun and that beautiful Texas weather. But I can’t wait to get back to pickin’ and singin’ with all my favorite fans!”

It was a welcomed sign for fans of the country star, and incredible to see his positive energy so soon after such a serious operation …

COLT FORD

Colt Ford is feeling better and he is taking the time to think back about the past couple months of his life, and he is clearly emotional about how everything has played out.

Who can blame him? He did die twice — he was resuscitated each time — following a show in Arizona back in April after all.

Anyway, we know Ford is feeling better because he has started to become a more consistent presence on his Instagram account heading into July.

“I’m sitting here tonight … I’m so grateful to be alive,” in the most recent video posted to his account. “And so many of y’all have reached out with prayers … ”
