Dave Portnoy Slams ‘Weird’ Tom Brady Who Revealed He Cloned His Dead Pit Bull, Lua

"When there are countless dogs that need homes? Homeless dogs being euthanized at shelters? Wtf is wrong with people!" one user wrote. "The amount of animals that could have been rescued or given medical help with the money he must have spent on this makes me so, so sad," another added.

Yahoo! Social media personality and Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts on NFL legend Tom Brady’s revelation that he cloned his dog, Lua, who died in 2023.

Portnoy reacted to the bizarre decision on social media after the Super Bowl champion praised the biotech company that helped preserve his late pup’s legacy in November 2025.

To accomplish this, Viagen relies on its “exclusive licensing and access to the breakthrough technologies” developed by the Roslin Institute of Edinburgh, which famously cloned Dolly the Sheep in the ’90s.

Viagen has reportedly cloned more than 15 species, including the endangered black-footed ferret, and “holds a vast bank of genetic material from threatened species such as white and black rhinos.”
