3 More Law Enforcement Officers Die In Motorcycle Crashes

The inherent dangers of motorcycles are well known, but they can't stop you from using one.

INTERNATIONAL UNION OF POLICE ASSOCIATIONS, JULY 5, 2024 – It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Anthony Zahorovsky, a cherished member of our IUPA Local 6020 family and former representative, due to a tragic off-duty motor vehicle accident.

Anthony’s loss is deeply felt by all of us. As a colleague, friend, and family member, he touched many lives.

Zahorovsky was southbound on Pine Island Road when his motorcycle collided with an SUV attempting to make a turn onto Springtree Lakes Drive, the time was approximately 12:20 p.m. The collision was so severe that, debris and scattered car parts marked the place of the tragic encounter. The occupants of the SUV, a mother and her adult daughter, sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. – Hoodline

Tennessee deputy dies after motorcycle crash

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN), Jul 4, 2024 — A Sheriff’s Office deputy has died after being involved in a motorcycle crash.

On Wednesday, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook that Anthony Cutcher died after being involved in a serious motorcycle crash while he was off-duty.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. in Lawrenceburg near the sheriff’s office, which is off West Gaines Street near North Locust Avenue.

Cutcher was taken to an emergency room in Lawrenceburg but could not be immediately flown to Nashville due to his injuries.

“The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is asking for prayers for friends and family during this difficult time,” the department announced on social media.

Tillman County sheriff died after motorcycle crash over weekend, police say

Tillman County Sheriff William Ingram, 50, served as sheriff since January 2021

“It was with great sadness that we have to report the passing of Sheriff William Ingram. Please keep Sheriff Ingram’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Funeral arrangements are pending and we will advise as soon as we know,” officials wrote in a post on the Tillman County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page over the weekend. source

SEEKONK, MASS., SEPT 10, 2023 — A 28-year-old off-duty Seekonk police officer was one of two people killed early Saturday morning in a motorcycle crash in Somerset after the motorcycle she was a passenger on entered a rotary going in the wrong direction.

Seekonk Police Chief David Enos said Patrolwoman Kourtny DeForitis, who served on that town’s force for just under three years, died when the motorcycle she was a passenger on crashed into a utility pole at around 1:15 a.m. on the Route 103 rotary.

The motorcycle, Somerset police said, entered the rotary going the wrong way and collided with another vehicle before going off the roadway. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital.

Somerset police say they responded to a report of a crash and found a motorcycle and a vehicle along with a man and a woman lying in the roadway. source
