Driving in one of the country’s most maddening cities is about to get a little bit safer …

WCVB  – A Massachusetts Turnpike on-ramp plagued by more crashes despite a fraction of traffic volume will permanently close next week, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said.

The Clarendon Street onramp to westbound I-90 will close Tuesday.

Limited sight distance and a length too short for drivers to build reasonable merging speed left the ramp with a higher crash rate despite having 75 percent less traffic volume versus other nearby ramps, MassDOT said.
