LNP Media – The Penn. Department of Health on Monday temporarily suspended the medical license of a doctor charged last week with indecent assault of a patient.

The Lancaster County district attorney’s office also asked the public to notify their local police departments with information regarding William R. Vollmar.

On Wednesday, Vollmar, 55, was charged with touching a patient’s genitals during an after-hours, soft-tissue massage for a sports-related injury. (Details below.)

He also was contracted for medical work at several schools in the county.

Officials have not filed any other charges against Vollmar, but continue to investigate, the district attorney’s office said.

Vollmar must appear before the health department’s State Board of Medicine in 30 days. The board will determine if there is evidence to support the temporary license suspension. He also could face further discipline.

Vollmar retired from Stephen G. Diamantoni, M.D. & Associates on April 9, the day before he was charged. The private practice is owned by Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni.

LNP previously reported Vollmar was approved as a school physician for the 2018-19 school year at Lampeter-Strasburg and Pequea Valley school districts.

Lampeter-Strasburg Superintendent Kevin Peart on Friday said Vollmar immediately resigned from his position at the school district. Read more.

After about 5-10 minutes, Vollmar asked the victim if he wanted to be “worked on,” which he understood to mean chiropractic work on his back, neck, shoulders, legs, and hips.

During the massage, the victim told police, the victim was undressed, wearing a towel over his genital area. Toward the end of the massage, the victim said, Vollmar asked, “Do you trust me?”

After the victim said he did, and Vollmar began touching his genitals, the victim said.

After a moment of shock, the victim told police, he stopped Vollmar from continuing.
