It was first reported the 75-year-old had collapsed during the band’s soundcheck by TMZ.
In a statement released on the band’s Facebook page, further details were revealed:
“He visited a local medical facility and, although the issue was not serious, was advised to rest for the next week, so unfortunately the remaining four dates on The Monkees Present: The Mike & Micky Show tour have been postponed.
“Nesmith has been dismissed from the hospital and is traveling back to his home in Carmel Valley (California).
“He is in good spirits and thanks all the fans for their support and understanding. He looks forward to getting back on the stage again soon.”
Michael and Micky’s scheduled gigs in Philadelphia last night, New York tonight and New Jersey tomorrow were all postponed.
Last year, Michael released his autobiography Infinite Tuesday, where he spoke out about a mystery illness which left him unable to walk in 2007. He revealed:
“I was essentially helpless, a captive in my home.
“Each doctor I went to had diagnoses that were variations of the same story.
“While they did not think it was fatal in the near term, because they didn’t really know what it was, they thought it might be incurable.”
Michael turned to Christian Science faith amid his illness, and claimed he slowly got his movement back. He added:
“I spent hours daily in painless study and prayer and contemplation.
“Slowly I saw some normalcy return, and as I got my movement back in my hand, I was able to get up and move around.”
“I felt confident it wasn’t supernatural in any sense, just natural good taking care of her own .”
