Big Pharma Exec Quits In Wake of Failed Try to Buy Access to Trump

Disgraced lawyer quits after payments to Trump attorney revealed; Senator calls for investigation of Big Pharma

(Ivana Kottasová, CNN Money) The top lawyer at Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis has stepped down following revelations that the company made payments to Donald Trump’s personal attorney.

Novartis general counsel, Felix Ehrat, decided to retire in the “context of discussions” surrounding payments to Michael Cohen. [These payments were widely viewed as an attempt to buy access to Trump. – Editor]

Cohen had a one-year $1.2 million contract with Novartis during the beginning of the Trump administration.

Novartis admitted last week it was paying Cohen $100,000 a month.

The company said it believed that Cohen could advise the company on Trump’s approach to healthcare.
